10 Songs to Listen to On Repeat

Most songs sound best in groups, surrounded with others that complement them and give them deeper meaning. This is why we have albums, mixed cds, and of course, DJs. Some songs, however, sound best alone, surrounded only by your own spiraling insanity. This is why we have the repeat function.

A good song for repeating is hard to come by. It’s easy to get sick of a song after the third or fourth play, or it’s easy to start toning it out. A repeatable song has to grab your attention, and hold it with a death grip until you tear your headphones from your bloody ears several hours later. I exaggerate, of course, but for me at least this is the feel I listen for when wanting a song to repeat. Listening to the same song over and over again is something that I’ve always associated with a steady slide into hysteria and so I thought that it might be fitting for the start of the new semester to post a list of some of my favorite songs to hear on repeat, since a new semester of work will surely make us all crazy anyway.

Without further ado,

The List

10. Five Years, David BowieIt builds and builds and oh my god only five years noone makes it out alive!

9. If Heaven’s a Ghetto, Hodgy Beats – There’s something about the wavy instrumentals that gets you. I want to die to this song some day

8. Shut Up, Simple Plan – Teenage angst bears repeating

7. Finally Rich, Chief Keef – I don’t know why, but I can’t stop. #FreeSosa

5. Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe, Kendrick Lamar – Play it once it’s a subtle hint to unwanted guests. Play it ten times it loses its subtlety

4. Falling In Love At a Coffee Shop, Landon Pigg – A one track playlist for falling in love with strangers. Use with care.
