The air has burned at over 90 degrees for five days straight and a lack of fluctuation blurs the distinction between night and day. Heat rises, and if you ascend the staircase to your bedroom the warmth just hangs heavier. Normalcy is no longer an option. Rub peppermint oil on your wrists and drive up the mountain to jump in the cool river. With hair still dripping, curl up on a blanketless mattress next to someone new. Make sure to taste the strawberries while they’re still sweet. In two more moons they’ll be gone and so will this still night June.

Maddy Goodhart is a rising senior currently enjoying her last small-town summer in Middlebury as WRMC’s full time station manager. She cohosts a show called¬†PERSONAL COMPUTER¬†alongside Noah Sauer on Monday afternoons from 2-3pm.
