SAVE INTERNET RADIO

WRMC 91.1 FM Middlebury has joined the coalition to save internet radio. We are speaking out against the recent ruling by the Copyright Royalty Board to increase webcasters’ royalty rates between 300 and 1200 percent over the next 5 years. This ruling presents a grave danger for the future of the diversity of internet radio and threatens the existence of countless smaller radio stations. Though this ruling aims to rightfully compensate artists, we believe that it will hurt these artists in the long run.
Today, many webcasters are observing a national Day of Silence. Particpants include MTV Radio, Pandora, LaunchCast, Live365, Rhapsody, Accuradio, and many others. We will be shutting down our internet stream and will be locally broadcasting PSAs throughout the day for all of the Champlain Valley.
Join us in protest of this fully arbitrary increase in fees to stream web radio. Visit SaveNetRadio.org to find out how to contact your local members of Congress to ask them to back the Internet Radio Equality Act. Thanks for your support.
