  • The Vanguard

    Liam Morris, Ethan Klosseck

You heard it here first; The Vanguard seeks to liberate the mind of Middlebury.  We only play sonic molotovs and ear splinters. Ascension, transmutation, and levitation are all prerequisites. The Vanguard specializes in the liberation of spirit. The music we play represents a synthesis between mind, matter, hip-hop, electronic, and rock. Whether you are a traveller or homebody, the Vanguard has a place for you and opportunity for promotion. Power and equality, always see everything. P.E.A.C.E

  • Take it or leave it

    Chloe Mitelberg, Alexandria Johnson

“Take It Or Leave It” is what happens when two girls’ strong opinions meet absolutely unnecessary levels of analysis, critique, and conversation. Every week, we take Middlebury culture, dating politics, and the social norms everyone pretends not to notice, and put them to the test, or on trial some days. Some episodes feel like a judge and jury (Order in the Court), some feel like going to the other side (Devil’s Advocate), and some end in definitive winners and losers (Power Rankings). Welcome to our courtroom. We defend the “wrong” side. We overthink dinner convos. We indict situationships. And we back it all up with R&B, soul, and hip-hop from our favorite controversial, toxic artists that have even worse takes than us. You can take it or you can leave it. But we’re going to say it anyway.

Everybody wants their music taste to be cooler than everyone else’s, but on this show, we welcome a tasteful Britney Spears chart-topper just as much as a Pink Floyd deep cut. Please enjoy a collection of our favorite aux-worthy gems, alternated with those guilty pleasure gold mines that “ruined your music stats”

As an homage to Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin, Emilia (the really cool hot DJ) will further explore the cultural propensity to distinguish and label “otherness” according to colonial visions of sexuality via the eroticization of female and subaltern bodies. In reality, I would have been named Giovanni if I were born a “boy” and I just really want to live that Italian dream. In this space, I am Giovanni. And the studio is like my room for real.

  • ROCKS PEBBLES AND MEATBALLS 2

    Orion Heiser

When my father was in college, he had a friend named Russel. Now Russel was a star runningback on the team and had lead them to many great victories. But on this fateful day Russel flubbed the play so badly that the coach gathered everyone together into a huddle, turned to the poor downtrodden boy, and yelled “RUSSEL, YOUR HEAD IS FULL OF ROCKS, PEBBLES, AND MEATBALLS!!” Why anyone would say something so destructive so such an impressionable young soul is beyond me. If you want to listen to music that makes you feel like Russel did during this moment, music that Russel would never listen to, and music that helped Russel out of his great football slump, tune in!

  • Aviation Appreciation

    Erik Budo Uerkwitz

“Aviation Appreciation” came to us after visiting Ushuaïa Ibiza—famously located next to an airport, where planes pass overhead mid-set. We share a deep love for house music and live DJing, which is what sparked the show. The format blends our own pre-recorded live sets with curated music, conversations about our favorite DJs, and new releases. At its core, “Aviation Appreciation” is about appreciating a DJ in motion—watching them drive the decks the way a pilot flies a plane.
